Ideally, you need to be able to offer at least three hours of time outside its cage each day. Of course, you have to always supervise, because they are quite inquisitive and will get into everything! They will play with almost anything, especially ferret toys and love games. There are even harnesses and leads so you can walk them outside.
A carefully monitored diet and plenty of play time and affection are the elements of care that most people immediately think of. However, if you want your friend to live as long as possible and be in good health, there are other things you’ll want to see to. Make sure you give the occasional bath, clean his ears, and keep his nails trimmed. Keep your yearly veterinarian appointments. He will need both rabies and canine distemper shots once each year. Look into heart worm preventative as well.
