Plan To Reward Yourself Periodically When On A Weight Loss Plan
For most people, losing weight is not easy. It normally takes time, effort, and determination. One method that can make it less onerous is to set intermediate milestones and reward yourself when you reach them. For example, if you are trying to lose fifty pounds, you might give yourself a treat as every ten pounds come off. However, rewarding yourself with food is a bad idea. It is not so much that the extra calories in one chocolate sundae can undo your weight loss. It can sometimes lead to a binge, though, as well as activating cravings you had previously conquered. Instead, consider other little luxuries that will let you celebrate in a manner that does not involve eating.
There are many economical ways you can reward yourself. If you are the type who loves, but seldom has time for, a long soak in the tub, give yourself a special one. Purchase a scented candle for atmosphere, some perfumed oil for the bath water, and a silky lotion for after your bath. Then wrap yourself in a soft robe and continue to relax with a good book or entertaining movie.
Treat yourself to a jewelry set, perhaps a nice pendant with matching earrings. You can buy costume jewelry for just a few dollars. If you shop carefully, you can often find the genuine article for an excellent price. You might consider purchasing a style you did not feel comfortable wearing before your weight loss, such as a very delicate chain or an attention grabbing pendant.
You may not want to invest in a new wardrobe yet, especially if you have quite a few more pounds to shed. Accessories, however, could be enjoyed now and after your goal is reached. Suggestions include a crystal necklace, a pair of soft leather gloves, or a silk scarf.
A day at the spa might be just the reward you need to boost your spirits. A facial, manicure, and massage can sometimes be a powerful incentive to stick with your diet plan. You could also have your hair cut and styled, either at the spa or at your favorite salon.
A new bag might be your preference for a reward. Hobo bags keep increasing in popularity, and are available in economical models as well as more models from major designers. A tote made of brightly colored fabric could provide the whimsical, playful touch you need. If you prefer having a pocket for everything, you could also select an organizer bag.
Spend some time at an upscale perfume counter and find a scent you truly love. It is best, however, to try fewer than four different scents per day. Your sense of smell can be overwhelmed by too many different choices, which makes it hard for you to judge properly. Once you decide on one, you could also purchase the bubble bath, soap, or bath powder to match.
As you shop for your current reward, make a note of items you would like to have. Plan ahead for the treats you will allow yourself at each level. Write them down beside the weight loss goal so that you have something to review as you progress. Sometimes, reminding yourself of the rewards you will be receiving in addition to the pounds lost can help you weather a moment of weakness or frustration.
