Guidance For Cleaning Skagen Women’s Watch
Skagen watches are often pretty and convenient works of art. It is very important you know how to properly clean your watch. The steps to doing this depend on the type of material used in the wristband. In order to avoid accidentally damaging or scratching the watch, it is necessary that you know the quick and easy to follow instructions for cleaning and caring for your Skagen mens watches.
For metal watchbands, know that a special solution of cleaner will needed to be mixed together. It is important, however, that you are wearing rubber gloves for safety reasons while doing this. After you put on your gloves you will need to mix together your cleaner. You can either use a rubbing alcohol and water mixture, or an ammonia-based window cleaner and water solution. Both cleaning solutions will work fine.
The recommended mixture for the ammonia-based window cleaner is three parts cleaner to one part water. The alcohol cleaner, however, should be mixed at four parts alcohol to one part water. Once you have your desired solution mixed, you will then need a rag or cloth with which to clean the men’s watches. Dampen the rag in the solution, then ring it out completely. Gently wipe the cloth over the watch face and its case.
For the next step you can use either a rag or cotton swab, depending on your personal preference. However, for mesh watchbands, you will need a bristled brush, or toothbrush. Dip the tool into the solution and clean the watchband.
Again, if your wristband is mesh, cover the face of the watch with some type of plastic that will seal the mechanism. Doing this will ensure you do not accidentally splash the cleaning mixture onto the face. Soak the head of the toothbrush in the cleaner and begin washing the mesh until completely clean.
Leather or rubber wristbands require a separate cleaning method. The first step is to wet the soft rag into clean water and gently wipe away any dirt or smears from the band. If the wristband is made of rubber, however, this is all the cleaning the band requires. However, smooth leather bands need to be rubbed down with a leather conditioner on occasion.
This conditioner will ensure your band does not dry out. However, while there is no specific rule stating how many times this should be done during the course of the watches life, you should not have to do this after every cleaning. How often you need to condition the leather will depend largely on your situation. Every few months or so, or when the wristband seems to be drying out, is mostly the accepted rule. After you finish applying the conditioner to the leather, wipe the band down once with a dry and soft rag and you are done.
